4 stars GENESIS without its singer...

1Dance On A Volcano and there he is gone; so don't let yourself go; rhythmic bass forward, drums louder, keyboards more intoxicating, trying, overwhelming, and Phil's voice which blends strangely well; a hellish rhythm to make us forget, a different rhythm to show that the Genesisian sound will indeed be eternal; Phil works on his voice phew nothing to do with 'More Fool Me', in short a bit of Canterbury madness and madness like Banks who plays notes faster than his breathing, the spleen guitar finally arrives and an air of old GENESIS in the end, absolute beauty 2 Entangled for the melancholy nursery rhyme from the start, you can feel it, Steve on a logical Genesisian arpeggio, I would say, which sounds almost better than in the Gabriel era, astonishing; Phil accompanied by choirs to keep the safe...and then one of the two divine breaks arrives, yes the word is out; this spleen melancholy sound, this air which rocks you and sends you to a bucolic land without war, just peaceful cries, what can we say about the angelic choirs, magnificent evolution of the remaining 4. 3 Squonk for a rhythmic title now with the official triad; the drums with rolling drums, the bold keyboards on one side and clear catchy keyboards on the other and the guitar, the guitar which is more melodic guitar; the progressive finale with a gentle decrescendic declination 4 Mad Man Moon for the second nursery rhyme-ballad with piano in front, it calms the ardor a little; Yes, but; wait barely 3 minutes and the piano arpeggio which descends, the symphonic keyboard which swells, yes it prog so finally, it swells and it separates from the orchestrations before with Peter in front who punctuated the title; here we are on a Genesisian composition where everyone seems to be happy to play; again a two-part finale with the resumption of the tune and the darker ending; when I write Génesisienne it is indeed the musical atmosphere that I am talking about

5 Robbery, Assault And Battery second side and the radio edit title, yes the one that smells like pop-rock, with a well-crafted verse and chorus, the one that tells you in your ear, well prog is over; and then Tony arrives and with his keys, he hits the symphonic break; a second keyboard break highlights it even more, a little too much even? Resumption of the verse-chorus with a noticeable evolution to mask the consensual air a little 6 Ripples... or how to realize that the quartet was not going to last... a nostalgic ballad entry bordering on a cappella with piano and guitar; a logical refrain, a symphonic escapade...and the, this famous Genesisian break which gives pride of place to Steve's spleen guitar; yes but watch the official clip again and you will especially see the keyboard keys; the man in the shadows who, in my opinion, emerges from one of the most beautiful spleen prog solos is still in the background; in short, pure personal but persistent feeling; the return to the current world, yes the solo disconnected me from reality, the return is only to finish the title gently like a spring drying up 7 A Trick Of The Tail for the eponymous title and the gift of giving a name to the atmosphere, the Charisma sound, as on the cover, as on the label of the label... yes a unique 'Genesisian' sound made of an osmosis of voices kneaded and entering into the musical rhythm, made of dreamlike keyboards and guitar; a simple ballad... walking in an English garden to locate the tree with roots in which we will be able to fall into the hole and find Alice, that is the universe of this group. 8 Los Endos after the beautiful intro we could imagine a beautiful ending to this album; there is this title; heralding arpeggio, distinctive percussion, distinctive organ, recognizable tune; one GENESIS cannot hide another whatever one says; ah this velvety, flamboyant, airy, ethereal synth... Ah this cover with the choirs, ah this orgasmic arrival which gives the progressive avant-garde title with the final explosion and the fusion of the drums with the keyboards... Amen ; it vibrates, it exhilarates; a little plastered and so who said they have to look like someone?

GENESIS remains this studio beast which here releases a modern symphonic prog rock album, a transitional album that must be taken as it is.
