5 stars 2nd release. Close to or a real Masterpiece ?

Gryphon releases their second full-length album, ''Midnight Mushrumps''. After an interesting, but out of prospects debut (mainly because of the non-existent notice from a larger audience), Gryphon present an excellent album.

The compositions are equals to the perfection. The band members are using such a lot instruments each one, composing with them marvelous tracks with great ideas and passages that go from pure Folk to Progressive Rock, surprising even the most strict and demanding listener. Intruments such as krumhörns, harmonium, pipe organ, electric and toys piano, gloskenspiel and mandolin create a unique atmosphere similar to some Middle-Aged concerts, magnetizing everyone. ''Midnight Mushrumps'' wouldn't have been such an excellent album, without these amazing and crystal vocals. The band's members are properly giving seminars for these out-breathing vocals! Everything is perfect!

The album's production is extremely good and clear, masterpiece's worthy. This album comes close to Prog Folk masterpieces of that years. ''Midnight Mushrumps'' places Gryphon close to bands like Jethro Tull and The Strawbs, boding the other band's masterpiece, ''Red Queen to Gryphon Three''. Gryphon are now between the masters of the genre.

5 stars! MASTERPIECE! A must-have for everyone Prog Folk lover!
