PETER GABRIEL 3 [AKA: MELT]

A bit overrated sometimes, but it's not bad at all. There are some good moments: the first side has all those "psychological songs" that more or less "work", even if they are not strong on melodies. I don't like "Intruder" as I love "No Self Control", with it's insane xylophones and darkness ("i don't know how to stop!..."). "Family Snapshot" is also good but the best thing about it is it's amazing lyrics that put you in the character's situation on a very detailed way. "And Through The Wire" and "Not One Of Us" could be good emotional and anthemic rockers but Gabriel is not a great melodies' creator, and it shows on both of this songs which have lots of potential but lack "something" (like a perfect chorus). "Biko" includes some "world music" and good socially-conscious lyrics, but it's a bit too long. The rest is ok, but not amazing, and can get annoying sometimes.
