5 stars Back in the days before quantity won over quality (103 albums listed here!) Levitation was the last in a run of 5 star output from Hawkwind throughout the 70's. Levitation saw Gongs keyboard maestro, Tim Blake, Cream's drummer Ginger Baker and original guitarist Huw Loyd Langton join up to collaberate on Hawkwinds last great album. The album featured yet another trademark change of sound for Hawkwind with Langtons soaring gutar work a central key feature. Subsequent output was to strech the Levitation sound to its limit and beyond as Hawkwing finally started to run dry on ideas. I stopped buying there LP's in the mid 80's but continued on the annual pilgrimage to see them live every year until by the early 90's it was clear they were a spent force. Having said that, I am going to see them in Manchester in April (2004). Once a Hawks fan, always a Hawks fan.
