THE LAMB LIES DOWN ON BROADWAY

I went into this album with high expectations since the positive amount of feedback it has been given on this site, needless to say i am very disappointed with this album

First of all its 95 mins long, where half of that is boring, rambling and pointless

The album starts off very strong with (probably) the best song on the album, 'The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway', a Genesis classic with a very catchy hook and it is a great album opener. Nothing notable happens until 'In The Cage' which in my opinion is another great track, a song that truly defines progressive rock. Back in NYC and Carpet Crawlers are also solid tracks from the 1st disc.

Disc 2 is an absolute sleep-fest. Every track is incredibly forgettable and i have no clue what is happening in the story anymore. Easily the 2 worst sides from the 'classic' Peter Gabriel era Genesis albums (Trespass - The Lamb). I love Genesis and I adore albums like 'Nursery Cryme', 'Foxtrot' and 'Selling England by the Pound' but I just can't get myself to enjoy all 95 minutes of this mess.

Don't get me wrong, disc 1 is good with some classic Genesis tracks but disc 2 is one of progressive rock's lowest points. This album should never be compared to any of Genesis's works that came before this because that is all miles better. Even Giant for a Day is better for god's sake.

In conclusion, this is one of the most overrated double albums of all time and i don't see at all why people like this, maybe i just don't get it at all.
