3 stars Every Japanese prog researcher will meet the name of drummer Yoshida Tatsuya very often - at least he played in most well-known Japanese zeuhl/avant bands as Ruins,Koenji Hyakkei and Koenjihyakkei.

In this, less known project, he collaborates with guitarist Tsuneo Imahori. "DOTS" is second album of this project. As always with Yoshida you never know what to expect from his every new release. Then, I will help you - expect radical noise avant guitar and drums hardcore. High energy attack of very fast, technical and aggressive, but rounded at the same time, metal-like sound. With doze of psychedelia, characteristic Japanese noisy industrial compositions. Without melodies or structure, but with self-irony presented.

Nearest call will be Zorn's hardcore projects - Naked City and Painkiller, but Japanese duet has not jazzy roots. Few compositions are brilliant, some interesting, others - more chaotic cacophony.

I believe this album could attract radical technical avant metal/noise hardcore fans, Yoshida's collectors and Japanese avant researchers. All others possibly will hate the album as non-musical noise. Still interesting work for dedicated listener.
