3 stars Pink Floyd was in an impasse, suffering the absolute domain of Roger Waters and David Gilmour refuged on a solo album, wich is not progressive but has good moments.

For my taste, the highlight is Murder. A typical Gilmour track wich starts in an acoustic mode, and after a bass interlude gets into a really aggressive section finishing with a great guitar solo. The voice of Gilmour sounds great in this track as in the overall album.

There are four ballads, which are really good too. Love on the air, co writing with Pete Townsend is not much floydian but good and with a Hammond prominence. Out of the blue is a simple one, where the main think are Gilmour vocals. You know I'm right is another good one, based in an electric guitar pattern. Cruise has a great chorus and is a really good track.

All lovers are deranged is a short and strong track based in a hard guitar riff. Good. Until we sleep is not so good, based on an ordinary rhythm, and Blue light is the more pop one with some winds.

The album closes with the instrumental Let's get metaphysical, which sounds really uninspired, and then with the track Near the end, a slow and dark song which a Pink Floyd feel, which finishes with an amazing acustic guitar solo and then with a good electric one.

From a prog view, is good but not essential
