4 stars I wrote fondly of Visible World which was the first Garbarek album to become dear to me. This I have known much shorter time but could have been just as suitable to become my favourite. The drummer is the same, Manu Katché, while other collaborators are restricted to Kim Kashkashian on viola (as usual, saxophonist Garbarek plays also some synths and percussion). Theoretically thinking, one could miss e.g. Eberhard Weber's bass or Marilyn Mazur's percussion heard in Visible World. However this album is just as rewarding listening experience. It may be even more accessible, graced with song-like track structures, and still maintaining the high musical substance.

Kashkasian is a perfect match for Garbarek's Norwegian coolness; viola makes the sound very warm and heartfelt. Definitely recommended for both longtime fans and newcomers, who enjoy sensitive modern jazz/ fusion.
