5 stars Review #116!

'Phaedra' is one of the best progressive electronic albums I've ever heard. Unlike Klaus Schulze's (former member of Tangerine Dream) music, I wouldn't categorize this as ambience. This is a whole other level. There are some rythms, but not enough to call each track a song. The title track is a perfect example of this. Floating synths and organic sounds (leaves rustling, wind howling) make this minimalist piece worth listening to (because those are the only elements noticeable). This beautiful. Tangerine Dream transports you to another world. Give it a listen! 'Mysterious Semblance at the Strand of Nightmares' really fits its wordy title. Eery, soft, delicate with soft undertones of creepiness. Amazingly layered. 'Moments of a Visionary' is like the electronic version of 'Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Around In a Cave Grooving With a Pict', if you know what I mean, but it's oh so much better. A compilation of abstract sounds and the rare beat entering and leaving the studio. Probably the most interesting song on this album, and second-best to the title track. 'Sequent C' is the shortest song on the album. I'm assuming all these woodwinds were synthesized, but they sound great. The perfect ethereal two-minute journey. Now, prog on, fellas.
