5 stars A lot has already been said about this album. It's definitely their greatest achievement and a good balance between the progressive side and commercial side of Kansas. "Carry On Wayward Son" is overplayed but still enjoyable and a fine work even without the violin. The true masterpieces on this album are "The Wall", where they beat Pink Floyd to the concept by three years and did it in under five minutes as opposed to a double album (though songs shouldn't be compared to entire albums), "Miracles out of Nowhere" with it's complex time signature changes, instrumentals, and superb interplay between the instruments, and the 8-minute "Magnum Opus" which really is their magnum opus. This was their first album, in my opinion, where every song is a classic. Not a single filler song can be found here. This is the ultimate US progressive rock album of the 70s and recommended to all fans of both prog rock and arena rock.
