4 stars This EP feels like a continuation of the emotional masterpiece that is 'A Lonely Sinner'. I highly recommend checking that out first and if you love it, this EP will provide music in a similar vein.

This EP is from a teenager that is multi-instrumentalist and living in a dangerous home as a trans girl. She plays all instruments and also does sampling techniques well.

What makes this one less essential is the heavy usage of rough bare-bone acoustic strumming, sounding like someone learning to play the guitar and singing along. It may work with the concept, but I find it sonically a misstep. However, as the longer song 'B' gets increasingly more detailed and disturbing, it fires on all cylinders at a similar quality as 'A Lonely Sinner' with excellent transitions and complex instrumentation, reminiscent of that album's 'Storge' epic. You never feel at ease even when it quiets down, as it remains unnerving and you really feel worried about her safety during the recording. Then it returns to an early acoustic passage with her sobbing and explodes in brutal, extremely disturbing metal and ends with a record skip, which kind of sounds like she's being beaten or abused.

An alternate version was extended with 'c', following the metal is a post-rock section that samples a well known modern classical piece as she inserts her instrumentation and sound clips that may be recordings of her abusive household? Spectacular passage, so it is worth checking out the extended version of the EP, even though it had a rough transition between 'b' and 'c' I didn't like.

If the intro was shortened and the 'B' to 'C' transitions were executed better, this song would be a masterpiece rather than a flawed attempt at one. It is however a much rawer, less polished snapshot of her life.

This EP is recommended for anyone that enjoyed A Lonely Sinner's Storge song. While it brings up a few sonic and songwriting weaknesses that were absent in that album, at its best, it parallels the highs of that album with its unforgettable sonic assaults and horror ambient music.
