4 stars Bass and keyboards, bass and keyboards. Wow! And what a great job with it. The first song on this album, "Losing Hold", catches your attention quickly with, like I said, the bass and keyboards. Pekka Pohjola does an amazing job on the bass while Jukka Gustavson works the keyboards. Of the whole album it is my personal favorite. "Lost without A trace" slows down a bit but is a beautiful song with its touching lyrics and acoustic guitar. "Fairyport" starts out a more mellow piece but as the song goes on it speeds up and becomes more like "Losing Hold". The next three songs keep the well played piano parts that the first songs also had but I'm not going to go into much detail on those. "Hot Mice" brings back the sort of faster pace and also is more symphonic than the other songs, including the violin. This piece seems to bring out practically every instrument that the band was using for this album. "Hot Mice" is one of my favorites from this album. The last song I'm going to go into detail in is "Rave-Up For the Roadies". Where did the guitar come from? Well I don't know but Jukka Tololen plays it relentlessly the whole song, and I'm not going to lie, does a pretty good job with it. So it's a great album. Many of the songs are amazing, but others do bore me which is why my rating was 4 stars. But in all honesty I think of Fairyport a 4 1/2 star album. So buy it now!
