2 stars Since I've been previously disappointed with most of the January and February 2006 releases from Phrozenlight, I'd decided to skip forward a year to February 2007, and listen to Dark Lights. Unfortunately, the Phrozenlight's sound remains constant. The tracks on this release are simply drones of either noisy or soothing variety.

"Rumbling Between Solitary Rocks" starts off mellow and minimalistic with occasional airy sounds that made me feel as though something interesting was going to build up and consume me. But, the track jumps right into and ear-piercing jet engine drone that is constant throughout the follow 25 minutes left on the track's runtime.

"Wetlands" is more interesting and much less unbearable. Featured here are mellow, spacey dronescapes with piano overtones fading and swelling. Occasional synthesized violin sounds appear, which is something that wasn't present in Phrozenlight's earlier releases. Still, there is no progression at all - only thirty minutes of unpleasant blackness.
