4 stars Firestorm is just over an hour of the usual cosmic droning from Phrozenlight, with a tinge of "different". "Firebreath" is a very slowly developing wave of hot resonances that flow up and down through the soundscape, until eventually building up towards the middle until it explodes into a heavy metallic-sounding frequency that sounds similar to the way our sun looks. The overall tone of the track is remarkably symphonic, almost like a mellow dirge not unlike the opening Adagio-Molto from H. Gorecki's "...Songs are Sung" quartet, which brings interesting and beautiful textures to the beginning the fading end of the 30-minute track. "Firetongue" is a much fiercer track that is characterized almost entirely by harsh static, though it also is backed by the soothing ambient drones that Phrozenlight is known for, and these two sonic extremes work together with wonderful contrast. Otherworldly extraterrestrial sounds of anger through electronic experimentation also show through intermittently which adds another element to keep the track in the forefront of concentration, but I personally prefer the first track.

Firestorm is a very solid album of cosmic ambient music, and an interesting album in Phrozenlight's discography. I would highly recommend this as a decent starting point for anyone interesting in diving into the music of Phrozenlight.
