2 stars I have always observed this band from far afar. I almost bought their Bloody Tourist cassette when I was 10 years old because it was advertised. My mother did not like the proto-black metal artwork so I was denied that joy. I got a cassette with Chicago instead.

Over to the real debut album by 10CC and I may have missed out on something I would had liked back then, but which holds no appeal to me thirty years later. The music here comes across as a blend of too many dismal British pop bands, Bay City Rollers and some references to The Beatles. In short; too much teenybopper pop in my view. The music does have some dept though with some good references to The Beatles. A lot of them, in my view.

My main gripe though is the lack of any good songs here. Fresh Air for My Mama and The Hospital Song is the only two good songs here. The rest is pretty throwaway and not of any good quality. I will though slip out of my office later today and purchase the copy of Bloody Tourist my local shop has reserved from me. That with or without the approval of my mother. Probably without.

But this album is not to my liking at all. Too much teenybopper and not enough depth.

2 stars
