3 stars An album that became familiar to me due to my brother's foray into album rock in the early 1970s. The title song became anthemic to me in my college years, otherwise, other than perhaps "Rainmaker", the album doesn't stand up very well today. But that bass riff--drawn out over twelve minutes--was wonderfully hypnotic--great for late night driving music!

I've never been much of a fan of Steve Winwood's voice, so even liking this enough to buy the album was an event of note for me. Now I am much more appreciative of Mr. Winwood's talents, so can tolerate and enjoy much of his discography (thanks in part to Stomu Yamash'ta).

Historically, this may be a landmark album but, again, 50 years on it doesn't seem to offer much.
