2 stars "Pentecost III" is actually the third release by Anathema and by far the best album of the first period of the band. Also this is the last album with "vocalist" Darren White and strictly their last "doom metal release".

The album is dominated by long epics and falls inevitably in the progressive genre, "progressive doom" I'd like to call it. The compositions have more symphonic character too, compared with the two earlier releases.

This is a big improvement but still Anathema are a doom metal band and might not be the "cup of tea" of most "proggers", but if you like doom metal you'll probably love this record.
