5 stars So, It's been only five days since I got 'Paper Monkeys'...yeah, just five days (this, my CD, may even be the first official copy ever) and my mind's already ventured into Erpland! Just when you thought these guys couldn't make music even more overwhelming, insane and passional...then they give you 'Paper Monkeys'. Since the very first song you get a pretty good idea of how compellingly different things have got. It may not be the 'usual' record with which you fall in love immediately. No, this one grows slow yet steady on you. More and more details and aural layers keep popping out every time I listen to it again. The entire play time, from the spelaean/shamanic passages (Attack of the Vapours, Knurl, Plowm), through old school/atmospheric classic Ozric moments (Lemon Kush, Flying Machines, The Will of the Wisps), all the way to the refreshing and more in-the-face stuff everyone expects on an Ozric's album...everything's on its right place, waiting for you to discover it. I'm not reviewing every song as I think this record's made for you to listen and replay on it till your brains melt. Yet, some recommendations: Check out carefully 'Air City' and 'Paper Monkeys', of which the latter was heard live for the very first time by me and my Mexican countrymen in the September 29 concert, which would be the Ozrics' second time at Mexico. Also, listen closely to the work Ed, Brandi, Silas and Oliver have done on their respective instruments. These guys are clearly awesome musicians...as well as really nice and fun people (as I've got the opportunity to interact with them a few moments before the gig). Incredibly refreshing compositions and production, superb musiciancip, over-the-top engineering...Everything just flows and fits perfectly achieving (In my own humble opinion) a marvelous pieace of art with this the Ozrics' newest release. The Ozrics are back, and they're bringing with them a really killer album!
