4 stars This album is a great collection of Styx singles and it was about time the songs "High Time", "Borrowed Time" and "Why Me" made it onto one of these complilation albums. Although it is missing the single "Nothing Ever Goes As Planned" which cracked the top 30 in 1981, it is a great representation of all of the A & M records singles Styx released. I'm thinking the reason some of these "lost" singles are not on the other compilations is that they were not concert favorites and even dropped off the set lists after only one tour. I also noticed that they are Dennis DeYoung songs he wrote and sang, possibly creating an imbalance among the songwriters/lead vocalists of Styx on the other complitation albums put together. Styx is not about love ballads, Styx is not about Mr. Roboto, and Styx is not all about concept albums. Styx' music is a collaboration of 3 singer/songwriters going into the studio with a solid rhythm section of twin brothers John and Chuck Panozzo and creating music that goes beyond three chord blues, guitars only, computer generated and unison vocals. An interesting note about the order of the songs is that they are not in chronological order, order by songwriter or style, but it has been put together in a way that keeps you wondering what could possibly come next. Piano? Synthesizer? Acoustic guitar? Drums? Vocal? Lead guitar? This group keeps you guessing and this is Styx complete.

Put these discs on and you will understand Styx much better than any other media can demonstrate to you.
