5 stars For me, five stars is very rare.

The most accomplished psychedelic-space music that Pink Floyd has ever made. I have heard this album a thousand times (!) and it keeps the same taste (I think you know what I mean).

There is no mistake, no bad songs... it's pure and natural (maybe too symbolic but I have no other words to explain that). No complex rhythms, but very rich in mysterious atmosphere sounds (scattered and various percussions, well-used organ and guitars).

The tracks' order is perfect. The simple, but excellent, bass line of Let there be more light presents instantly the mysterious atmosphere of the album. Remember a day (Wright's composition, wow) and Set the control... stay beautifully in the same mood. Corporal Clegg follows with its funny-demence structure (surprising). A Saucerful of Secrets is a treasure for who likes instrumental-experimental music (the chorus in the last "mouvement" is a must) See-Saw and Jugband blues (Barrett's touch) close the project in a better way than you can imagine.

Notice that A Saucerful of Secrets (First and Only Space-Product done by the five Floyd symbiose) is completely different than The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (more Barrett's psychedelic period).

Personnally, I like Pink Floyd from The Piper to A Momentary Lapse of Reason but I highly prefer the Saucerful-Meddle period. More AUTHENTIC and underground. I recommend this Floyd period to all CAN fans. A Saucerful is less accessible than Dark Side and The Wall (more commercial) but it's better that way. Sometimes, prog masterpieces have to live hidden...
