THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON

I am going to commit a sacrilege - and say that this album is way overrated. It is a darned good rock album, even inspired, but that's it - definitely not a masterpiece everyone says it is. Masterpieces are not measured by how much money they ring up at the registers, or how much buzz they generate. They are measured rather by the quality and richness of the music itself, and in this department this album does not make the mark. The lack of musical sophistication cannot be hidden behind glossy production and lots of hype. That to me is not the way masterpieces are made.
