2 stars So close to being awesome. Specifically the single version of "Watcher of the Skies" which remained unreleased until the Archives series.

If they had asked ME to compile this, I would've switched just a couple things. Specifically if who ever initially released this (more on this in a moment) had used "Twilight Alehouse" (which was the b-side to "I Know What I Like") instead of "The Fountain of Salmacis" and "Happy The Man" instead of either "Harold The Barrel" or "Harlequin" this would have made an essential collection (until the Archives releases, of course.) And while I'm at it... If they had used the live version of "Supper's Ready" that had originally been rejected for the 1973 Live album... well... HOLY BLOODY HECK. The coolest oddity on the planet. (overselling it, maybe?)

So it COULD have looked like this:

Side A

I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe) / Happy The Man / Harlequin / Watcher of the Skies (singe version) / Twilight Alehouse

Side B

Supper's Ready (live)

A missed opportunity by Charisma. And would have been a perfect compliment to the existing Live record. Of course others will request inclusion of Trespass & The Lamb (especially with Lamb live shots on the cover), but I'm assuming that there might have been an issue using Trespass and The Lamb should be left in its entire anyway.

So, anyway MY copy of this LP (which I bought around 1987) has the Charisma Mad-Hatter logo in the upper right corner. It looks kinda like it was a sticker stuck over the Fontana logo (based on the photo above). On the back side, in the upper left, again; there is the Charisma logo with "Successo" written in cursive on an angle. The bottom left has the "PolyGram" logo. Just above it is written in Italian. (Well, I'm assuming it's Italian because it includes a Milano address.) Between the track listing for Side A & Side B are 3 paragraphs with several factual errors, such as "Peter Gabriel is responsible for the lyrics while Tony Banks writes most of the music." and "Genesis was formed in 1969".

Well, anyway, there ya go. Finally got that off my chest! 20 years later.
