Shakespeare
3 stars The first great Deep Purple album. Child In Time is an all-time classic. The lyrics are just fantastic, along with the energetic, screaming vocals towards the end. The rest of the songs are very fun, energetic, captivating rockers. Unfortunately, the sound quality is undeniably revolting. This album is also one of Ian Paice's best showcases for his amazing drumming ability (especially on Flight of the Rat). Deep Purple was my first prog bands...in fact, my first 'older' band. My dad has a huge obsession with these jazzy, proggy, bluesy hard rock icons, which is passed on to me. This was one of the earlier albums I really got into. But, despite it's high energy, guitar screeching, head banging goodness, there is very little artistic, emotional, creative elements (as most Deep Purple albums).
