ON THE WAY TO THE PEAK OF NORMAL

By now I am sure that everyone knows that CAN is THE Krautrock supergroup of all time.There is not much more that I could say about them that has not already been expressed by the progfans on this site.But the HOLGER CZUKAY output is a bit more uneven than that of CAN;I hope to give readers some insight into what makes HOLGER's solo efforts worth exploring.To me this is HOLGER's finest solo release. Not a bad cut on it anywhere and with sidemen like JAH WOBBLE,CONNY PLANK and JAKI LIEBEZEIT the sound is not unlike that of CAN,but with a more over all jazz infused sound.All of the tracks flow easily into the next making for a very favorable listen.After repeated playing you will notice little nuaunces that seem to improve with each listening.Standout cuts include side one opener ODE TO PERFUME which is almost 14 minutes of experimental free form jam ala vintage CAN. And also title track ON THE WAY TO THE PEAK OF NORMAL.If you can manage to find a copy of this,by all means BUY IT! I had to order a import copy from Japan to obtain this outstanding jem to add to my collection!
