Almost another masterpiece from Jethro Tull. There's no weak point on this album, a difficult
achievement for the band after their last fullstar album "A Passion Play". This is the 'bringin
back prog folk' album, but far more complex. The album starts with the main track, Songs From
The Wood. It's a great opening, including great overlapping vocals. Jack In The Green is pure
prog oriented folk, and this song was full recorded by Ian Anderson, every little instrument. Cup
of Wonder is a very interesting track, mainly the chorus, because of the unexpected chord
sequence. I think Hunting Girl and Velvet Green are the best tracks from this album, along with
the best Jethro Tull songs.. Hunting Girl has a haunted feeling, with awesome keyboards and
funny guitar riffage. The main guitar riff would sound very heavy without the other effects. Velvet
Green is just... awesome. Some happy songs like Ring Out Solstice Bells and The Whistler too. Love this album.
