4 stars Despite the different title, this 2003 "2em1" ("two in one") CD contains the same tracks as the 1999 "DOIS EM UM" (also "two in one") CD "Criaturas Da Noite & Casa Encantada".

The 1975 LP "Criaturas Da Noite" was re-released on LP in the 1980s (1990s?) under the title "O Terço" instead of "Criaturas Da Noite" and with a different cover: a photo of the band on stage, with the front showing Sérgio Magrão and Luiz Moreno's drum kit. The cover of the copy-controlled 2003 "2em1" CD from EMI Brazil shows the cover of the re-released LP plus the cover of the 1976 LP "Casa Encantada". Confused? I don't blame you! Anyway, whether you buy the 1999 'two LPs on one CD' or the 2003 'two LPs on one CD', you get the same tracks, although the 2003 release installs software on the hard disc if you play it on a PC or Mac. It doesn't stop you ripping the tracks to MP3 for your portable player, though.

Read my reviews of "Criaturas Da Noite" and "Casa Encantada" for my opinion of the music itself. I would give this CD 4.5 stars if such a thing were possible. With two excellent albums of 1970s South American Progressive Rock on one CD this is worth getting if you enjoy lighter, melodic Progressive Rock, but the copy-control software aspect is annoying. The unprotected 1999 "DOIS EM UM" release would therefore be a better bet if you intend to play the CD on a PC or Mac - it's out of print, unfortunately, but some copies are still available.
