4 stars Riverside's guitarist Piotr Grudziński has stated: "The idea of creating a band emerged rather accidentally. I was going with Mittloff (Piotr Kozieradzki, drummer) in his car, Mit put a tape on and quite unexpectedly I heard Marillion. It turned out that in spite of playing in a death metal band, he was a great fan of progressive rock, and as I was also very keen on that kind of music, we thought that maybe one day we could play some progressive sounds together. After a year we started to talk about this idea more and more often."

That's how it all started. This demo called "Riverside" was recorded at the bands own cost. 300 copies were made which were sent to radio stations and phonographic companies both Poland and abroad and 200 copies that were given to people who attended Riverside's promo concert in the Warsaw club "Kopalnia" on March 5th, 2003, thus it's almost impossible to find.

I don't know how to rate this since it's a not a studio album and it can't be found. However, I'll give it 4 stars because it's an amazing start for a band. The same year Riverside released the first studio album, "Out of myself", which contains tracks from this demo as well as new tracks. I'm not going to discuss about the music here cause I'll do that on my review on "Out of myself". I just wanted to give you an idea of what this release is about.
