2 stars Kayak - Greatest hits live (2006)

This dvd is the exactly the same as dvd two of the merlin 2dvd set. It covers some material from their 21 century reincarnation as well as some golden oldies from the seventies. While the first dvd of the Merlin Dvd is very essential progressive music, dvd2 (greatest hits) is for hardcore fans only. These aren't the most interesting Kayak 'hits' and the enthusiastic approach of the Merlin concert is gone. Where are hits like See see the Sun, Mountain to Rough, Royal Bed Bouncer and If this is your Welcome? The original seventies tracks aren't very strong with vocals of Bert Heerink who's voice just doesn't fit with material. Max werner is surely missed here. The vocals on tracks with Edward Reekers are acceptable though.

The problem with this disc is that it's just not representative for this band. I've seen them live twice and they were much better than this! That's why I will give this just two stars. Try the Merlin dvd instead, you will have this dvd as a bonus alongside the great Merlin album live.
