3 stars Reflux only released one album back in 2004, called THE ILLUSION OF DEMOCRACY. They broke up shortly after. A short-lived career but one that has proven to be incredibly influential on modern progressive metal. This album broke new ground, along with the Sikth and BTBAM pioneering the progressive metalcore sub-genre which has subsequently seen an explosion of young bands following in their footsteps. Most notably the band was the first home of guitarist Tobin Abasi who has gone onto find fame with his solo instrumental project Animals as Leaders. The album itself is incredible and a must listen for anyone with an interest in the extreme end of progressive metal. An underated classic
