3 stars A mixed but at times pretty neat production by this Canadian artist.

For the most part, this album contains slightly anonymous, radio-friendly compositions. Well written and well performed, but without coming across as original or unique in any manner. Few of these tunes contain moods or atmospheres strong enough to make a great impact; but there's nothing really wrong either. Nice creations, but nothing standout.

However, the opening three compositions as well as the final composition Wailing Wall are of a completely different ilk. The trio of tunes opening this venture are elaborate affairs in the art pop category; catchy grooves and strong melody lines, all of them containing characteristic, compelling melody layers and a detailed, textured and inventive soundscape. The final composition on the album is more of a majestic art rock creation, gradually evolving from slow, psychedelic tinged explorations to a rich, majestic sonic tapestry with haunting qualities.

Well worth checking out for those four creations - and those who enjoy melodic mainstream pop/rock as well as the four tracks singled out should be very pleased with this acquisition.
