1 stars A dispensable sleight of hand

So you think you've bled every last buck out of yet another live Hawkwind compilation, in this case the one called "Early daze, the best of". What do you do then? You re-title it with the name of the band's most successful single, and re-release it with exactly the same tracks! A few more imaginative sleights of hand like this, and the list of Hawkwind albums on this site could break the 200 barrier (they're over 100 already).

The track listing is reasonably impressive, trotting out the old faithfuls "Master of the Universe", "Silver Machine" etc., but these are inferior live recordings from Wembley Arena, and Brixton Sundown in London. With the plethora of live Hawkwind albums available, and considering a number of the tracks included here appear on the definitive Hawkwind live album "Space Ritual", this repackaging is totally dispensable, even for the most ardent collector!
