3 stars 3.5 really

Alessandro Farinella was the keyboard player of forgotten obscure late '80s italian band named Theatre who released only one album in 1993 named No More Rhymes But Mr. Brainstorm. Besides being a musician he is a well known in university circles , he has a degree in philosophy on the Middle Age mnemotechnic of Giordano Bruno, a quite intresting and unique afair in his career. In 2007 he begun his solo career and untill now he released 2 albums under his name, one named Momo in 2007 and second Road to Damascus in 2012. The album issued by MaRaCash records is a fairly good one from start to finish , toying with symphonic prog melted with eclectic and crossover prog passages. There are some really awesome instrumental parts like on the longest tune of the album The brave, his keybords shine and in combination with the guitar of Guido Mock done some good job. Another highlights are the opening track The battle, an instrumental track that shwos Farinella is able to compose some fantastic passages, from calm to more up tempo this pieces sets the mood for the entire album.Another big one in my opinion is Natural, I like a lot Farinella voice on this piece, very emotional and with good arrangements. Farinella voice is not among the best I've heared, is ok and fiting good into this type of music but is not awesome in terms of range. All in all, quite unknown italian musician, Road to Damascis is for sure a good listning and desearves little better then is seen today. 3.5 stars. Nice art work, Farinella dressed in armour with ruins behind him.
