3 stars Note: This was written when the album was still a vinyl exclusive. The curse of Timeland has been lifted and it can now be streamed anywhere.

A bit of a weird release. The songs on this album were made to be intermission pieces for the "Timeland" concerts that King Gizzard was planning on doing at the start of 2022. Those concerts were cancelled, but the records had already been distributed to various record dealers. The official release date of the album is March 5, 2022, but several record dealers sold the album before that due to the cancellation of the Timeland concerts. Further complicating it, at the time of writing this comment, Gizz decided to limit the release to vinyl only, making it difficult to actually get a hold of this album for those preferring digital media.

Musically, the idea that this was meant to be intermission music is pretty up front. Both pieces feel like 15 minute jam sessions, that while can be trippy and interesting at times, definitely aren't meant to be fully cohesive "songs." The second track "Smoke & Mirrors," is a bit more interesting in my opinion, with a little bit of a heavier tone to it and the inclusion of a couple rap sections performed by Ambrose (going by the pseudonym "Shrimpomaniac"). Overall, its an alright album to have as a bit of background psychedelia, but not a must-have, especially given Gizz's expansive (and better) discography.
