3 stars In April 1974 MAN was on tour in America as the support of HAWKWIND. 'The 1999 Party Tour' was recorded in Chicago and 1991 first released as a bootleg.

They had just finished their studio album 'Rhinos, Winos And Lunatics' which for me is disappointing. But this concert offers former material. They played just for an hour. A little bit harder, stronger and not so psychedelic and spacy like the years before. A reason is that Deke Leonard again is in the line-up.

They started with '71 71 551' written by Leonard when he was not with the band. A very good live version with a typical jamming part in the middle. The following two songs 'Romain' and 'It's a hard way to live' are not important. 'C'mon' and 'Spunk Rock' are traditionally part of nearly every gig including extended improvisations. I think there have been recorded better versions in 1972/73.

3 stars and a half because the sound quality is excellent.
