Review by andrea
PROG REVIEWER
3 stars This is an album recorded and released by an outstanding acoustic guitarist for a public of other acoustic guitarists (students and lovers of the instrument) as you can guess from the picture on the album cover... According to the official website, to realize this photograph (that shows a theatre where all the places are occupied by guitars instead of people) hundreds of guitarists were invited and they filled the Donizetti Theatre of Bergamo... The album gathers the best performances of four concerts and was recorded in the April of 1994... Riccardo Zappa was alone on the stage playing a 12 strings acoustic guitar Martin D 1218 and a 6 strings guitar Martin D 28. He revisited his repertoire rearranging it for solo guitar and the result is an excellent example of his style, derived from his classical studies... This is not a "progressive symphonic album" and, of course, it's not an essential one, but, if you're an acoustic guitarist and you love artists like Leo Kottke or Ralph Towner, this could be an excellent addition to your collection...
