Review by Conor Fynes
PROG REVIEWER
4 stars 'Untitled I' - Sigur Ros (Single)

A perfect way to start off such a subdued album, the unofficially titled 'Vaka' brings out everything that '( )' is about in the first track. It is also one of the highlights from the album it comes off of, although I would not consider it to be the sort of track that would be a 'single.' Revolving around a piano melody and some ethereal vocals, there are alot of layers to 'Vaka' that really gives it an otherworldly feel.

Some of the higher pitched ambient vocals of Jonsi aren't much to care for, but his tenor vocal presentation is beautiful and top-notch. Some cello arrangements back up the frontal piano work perfectly. Despite being pretty simple in the composition, the first track to '( )' is an emotive masterpiece in terms of presentation. The arrangement is thoughtful, and despite not having a big dynamic range, 'Vaka' is a track that hits me close to the heart.
