4 stars Komuna label released in 1994 a 10-disc retrospective collection of rock music of the former Yugoslavia from the early 1960s till late 1980s, under the title "Yu retROCKspektiva". "Plima" represents a themed compilation of progressive rock bands.

It is a fair overview of the 1970s prog rock in Yugoslavia, containing both celebrity bands (like INDEXI, KORNI GRUPA, TIME, POP MASINA) as well as some more obscure but in return very interesting acts (like SRCE or DOGOVOR).

Selection of songs is quite objective and representative of the sound of particular bands, although one may always question why, for instance, INDEXI or KORNI GRUPA were represented with "Plima" respectively "Prvo svetlo" and not with "Negdje na kraju u zatisju" respectively "Jedna zena". But this is usual problem with all compilations and touches the individual preferences.

We can go on and debate over why this and this band was omitted from this collection, but it is a fruitless job. For a single disc collection of prog rock compositions recorded in the period from 1969 to 1980, "Plima" is a recommended purchase for anyone who is unfamiliar with Yugoslavian music, as well as for collectors who will more than appreciate presence of rare recordings such as "Prvo svetlo u kuci br. 4", "Gvendolina" and "Secanje na san".
