PROG REVIEWER
2 stars This is the first single from THE MARS VOLTA'S debut album, 'De-loused in the Comatorium'. Unlike the second single, 'Televators', this has little to recommend it even to a fan of the band. The track is shorn of the full impact, with the opening minute of 'Son Et Lumiere' excised, and even some of the powerful drumming removed. Doesn't work for me. This song needs to be heard in all its six-minute glory, and the best place to do that is the album. The second song, a live version of 'Roulette Dares', is excellent, but is available on the 'Live EP' album released the same year.

The rating does not reflect the excellence of either track, just their dispensability in the wider canon of THE MARS VOLTA. If you have the 'Live EP' and 'De- loused' you don't need this.
