3 stars Hittar Cuesta is a guitarist born in Quito - Ecuador. With the years he manage to become one of the most respected musician from South America and this status is consolidate with their album released in summer of 2000 named Language of the spirits or in spanish El Lenguaje de los Espiritus is a good album overall. The music is clearly Satriani influenced (there is a piece called Lidian para Satriani), so obvious he is a follower of this great musician named Satriani, with nice arrangements, neoclassical aproach with a touch of progressive metal in places. The pieces are good all, not a weak moment, but as awhole is nothing grounbreaking, I mean the pieces are not so elaborated like on a real prog metal band, all the tracks are under 6 min. The guitar, of course has the main role, but also the keyboards, who are more in background did a good job and give a special atmosphere of the album. Something that has to be mentioned is, he is helped on drums by the great drummer Andrés V. Nardela from another progressive metal band from Ecuador - Viuda Negra ( a great band, at least the album La Voz de los Bosques from 2007 is a truly excellent work). Now, overall a good album for sure, some pieces are real great like Dimensiones or Danza de Almas, two excellent pieces that show Hittar Cuest must taken in consideration when we talking about prog metal and guitarist from South America. Because I'm the first reviewer of the album, I will fair and give 3 stars, nothing like masterpiece like other votant puted here, but good and enjoyble as a whole.
