2 stars Moonspell released their debut album Wolfheart in 1995 but before that they had released a demo tape called Anno Satanae in 1993.

The music on Anno Satanae is melodic black/ Death metal. Itīs mostly played in mid to slow tempi but there are a few faster parts too. The album has five songs. Two of them are an intro and an outro, so there are really only three real songs here. Goat on Fire, Ancient Winter Goddess and Wolves From the Fog are all in the same melodic black/ death metal style.

The musicianship is a bit shaky if you ask me and especially the drummer seems a bit untight.

The production is of demo quality which means not very good. You can hear what is happening though.

I must admit that I had myself a bit of a laugh while listening to Anno Satanae. Itīs just so imature and full of strange ideas but I canīt help liking it a bit anyway. 2 stars may be a bit too high but thatīs my rating. This one is only for the fans of the band or for someone like me who is interested in early nineties extreme metal.
