PANTOMIME: EVERYWHERE IT'S CHRISTMAS

I listened to this and the other The Beatles` Christmas flexi-discs records during the broadcast of a radio biographic series dedicated to them in 1981 and 1982. With the passing of time I can`t remember very much about them but, yes, I still can remember some things about this flexi-disc.

This is maybe the most elaborated and funny of all their Christmas` records. The script was done by the band members themselves with the production done by Tony Barrow. Recorded during the initial recording sessions for their "Sgt. Pepper`s" album, it is a funny recording, which in this time has a "Pantomime" divided in several parts, with the band members singing the "Everywhere is Christmas" song several times and them "acting" and doing funny voices, telling a story. There is a particularly funny part that I can remember now where Ringo sings imitating the voice of a drunk man ("please don`t bring your banjo back" or something like that). I can`t remember the story told, but by only to listen to their funny voices (similar in parts to their "You Know my Name" song) it really sounds as they had a funny time while recording this flexi-disc.

In the book "The Beatles: Recording Sessions" (1988) written by Mark Lewisohn, it says that these Christmas records were generally recorded at the end of long recording sessions for their albums, in a time when they were generally tired, but they anyway considered these flexi- discs as very good gifts for their Fan Club members, so they generally enjoyed recording them, improvising and even said some "bad words" or jokes which were edited later because they weren`t considereded as "good behaviour".

I can remember that the fexi-disc format was used in the sixties-seveties-eighties for promoting some things. I also can remember one of my brothers who plays guitar listening to some free flexi-discs which were included in some guitar playing magazines (like Guitar Player", for example).
