4 stars Issued by the german label Warmmilk Records 'Apocalypse Psychedelicka' is said to be GALACTICKA's only official release so far. Now this is confusing a little bit because they have not less than eight productions out now which have a length of an ordinary album release at least half way through. Five musicians represent a steady line-up during the recent years and are staying for a musical style which mixes heavy psychedelic with space rock developed in a non-limited jamming way.

This album was recorded soon after they came back to Finland from a tour in Germany. The opener Acid Rain shows the band's trademark quite good. Initiated by a rainy sample military drums are faded in after a while and then they turn into a deep groove - hypnotic, growing dynamically and provided with repetitive guitar riffs. A united workout where only keys/synths are soloing a lot. Unsanity on the other hand tends more to a classic space rocker with cosmic synths. The band glides into a weird floating part with some accordeon snippets then where you get the impression they are losing the orientation. But no problem though - they are coming back to the track soon decorated with nice electric piano additions.

Implosion reminds me of Hidria Spacefolk's dynamic a lot which is mixed up with some folk elements whereas Fallout is provided with a Black Sabbath alike slowtempo drone groove. Both guitars are heavy riffing through the whole track backed by a repetitive bass line. Homo Nihilus finally convinces with great power once again featuring an impulsive drum work.

Based on evolving free improvisations the GALACTICKA line-up is proving a fantastic interplay here with these jam excerpts. You won't find guitar solos but tons of riffs provided by Vesa and Jussi. Recommended to stoner and space rock fans.
