4 stars This neat EP dozes a half hour of twisting sonic fix of Hotel Wrecking City trader's abstract sludge music. The guitar gains incredible depth in its sound, and the songs flow pleasantly with loose, groovy and raw stoner rock themes. Fast alterations in rhythms, innovation in song structures and intensity of large sound produced with minimal instrumentation creates interesting paradox to the record, as the patterns which first may appear quite conventional, quickly escape from the mainstream musical approach to vivid realms of imagination and dreams. This process perhaps culminates in the long catharsis of final song "7 Minutes of Tape". Correctly working contrasts often bring extra value to any art, and the cross tension of brutal rock and impressionistic noodling appears to work very well for me on this disc. In addition of doom-oriented patterns there are also more relaxed psych rock themes enlarging the tonal palette of the disc, as for example in the song "Sutter Cane. I admit the tracks and their names do not here feel so important as the continuously flowing sounds, which swirl like a hair of some psychedelic character observing listener from the record sleeve. Fun and very recommendable, if you are open to free brutal music.
