4 stars This collection was released as an in-store play promotional release, i believe when the second versions of the Rykodisc releases came out. The remixes sound great (Zappa mixed the original set of releases, and many people complained that the treble end of the sound was way too hot.

The collection covers most of Frank Zappa's career, from "Freak Out" to "Them Or Us". And despite containing only "clean" songs (radio friendly), the collection manages to capture Frank's diverse nature.

The most familiar (I won't say hits) of Zappa's works are here: Peaches En Regalia, Dirty Love, Dancin' Fool, Don't Eat Yellow Snow and Valley Girl. But there is also Blessed Relief, one of Zappa's more beautiful instrumental numbers, and some raucous gems, like San Ber'dino and Be In My Video.

So not only is this a nice album for a collector like me, but it would make a good candidate for an album to play for a Zappa neophyte.
