3 stars A live CD with eight tracks, clocking at less than 18 minutes? What is going on?

Quite simple: most of the tracks are clocking between minute and two, and only two of those are actual songs - the rest is a compilation of Fabrizio's speeches, mostly as interludes between song during his life performances.

This is not a pointless collection of banters - each of these eight verbal essays makes a political statement. De Andre comments on humanism, the gay and minorities rights, political liberties. 'Al fianco degli Indiani' explains his famous 'Fiume Sand Creek', with a bitter comment on situation (both past and present) of Native Americans (with a ironical nod all the way back to Columbus' discovery). 'Princesa e i Rom' tackles the issue of Gypsies and their nomadic life.

Political leaning of Fabrizio de Andre are not unknown to an average fan - at least not after 1973 (since his 'Storia' album was based on Protest of '68) - but this little oddity is a bold, good-hearted statement - even if it was issued two years after his death; it was published by 'A' , an Italian company publishing anarchistic periodicals; they can hardly be accused of misusing de Andre's figure and catalogue, since it was him who had been helping the publishing company with financial injections when necessary.

Frankly, I can not recommend this audio document, since it contains almost no music, and it will be next to useless if you don't understand Italian. However, I must look on it with an keen eye since it's never a bad thing to be reminded of little bit of humanism. This is tiny yet truthful fragment of an artist's life.
