3 stars 3.5 really

The latest Red Sand album to date issued not long ago named Behind the mask is the best album since Gentry. I mean with this release they really return to the great form they were in that period 2004-2005. This is much better in every aspect then previous 2 albums, not to mention that is miles ahed face Music for sharks. Here not only Caron shines on guitar, but each musician involved brings and deliver best they got. Even is a great record I don't considered their best, I remain to Gentry to be the most acomplished Red Sand album ever. Pieces like Behind the mask are instanly catchy and has that special Red Sand gitar trademarck made in Caron, excellent. The pieces, all of them are more intressting, elaborated, keyboards have again an important role, somehow forgotten on previous work only sporadicaly used, here are excellent. This is first rate neo prog, maybe not original, but well played and with intresting passages. The bass, drums are all over and is clear that they play with pleasure for neo prog music. Another fine Red Sand album that desearves more then 3 stars and less then 4 because 4 was destined for their best work Gentry, so 3.5 it is, a welcome return to form after almost mediocre Music for sharks.
