3 stars Matthew Vincent Walker was a totaly unknown musician to me untill I've discovered his bandcamp page. So I decided to give it a try and I was pretty surprised what I've heared. He has so far two albums under his name one released in 1998 Sharp circles and one released this year 2012 named Cinnamon sea. This later album made me to make a review about and was a good listen in the end. Both albums released only as digital format and available on his bandcamp page on a low price. So his page said and I'm quoted he is "primarily a drummer and guitar player, Matthew also uses lush keyboards and vocals to produce a unique combination of sounds to accompany his acoustical instruments and synthesizer experiments", a great descrption on what is Cinnamon sea all about. Some excellent pieces here , the mid temp very spacey and with lots of intresting moments is for sure Explorations, great laid back keyboards and guitars, top notch tune. Another highlights are Captured, instrumental up tempo Orbit city with blistering guitars and keyboards and Forest or rain, all great from start to finish. This is the type of prog rock that I like to listen, is not very complex but is not simple either, he mange to give a certain balance between complexity and melodical lines in a good manner, the result is more then ok. Good instrumental passages and I like aswell the voice , it has some retro vintage feel to it and I like it. A solid 3.5 stars to Cinnamon sea, even is unknown musician he desearve to be better known in prog circles. Nice cover art aswell.
