SPECIAL COLLABORATOR Symphonic Team
2 stars We're not in Kansas anymore

Inspired by the stories of C.S. Lewis, Narnia is the opening number of Steve Hackett's second solo album Please Don't Touch. But while the album version features Steve Walsh from the wonderful American Symphonic Prog band Kansas on vocals (as well as Phil Ehart from same band on drums), this single version of Narnia instead has vocals by a John Perry. The reason apparently was that the record company didn't allow the release of the Steve Walsh version of the song as a single! The version featuring Steve Walsh is the better version of this melodic, acoustically driven Pop song. The John Perry version of the song has since been included as a bonus track on the remastered CD version of Please Don't Touch. The b-side of the single is title track from Please Don't Touch - a typical electric Steve Hackett instrumental and the best track from that otherwise weak album.
