SPECIAL COLLABORATOR PSIKE, JRF/Canterbury, P Metal, Eclectic
3 stars PIKE 136 - FIREBOLT is the 35th album released by BUCKETHEAD in 2015 Back to metal after very strange ambient and electronic endeavors

5 tracks. buckethead performs all. 28:35 album. all instrumental

bolt (4:41) starts off as an aggressive metal jam tune. riffs and solos rip and roar and i guess i would call this aggressive alternative metal. not super interesting but has cool solos on the down-tuned doomy chord feel. ok but not outstanding

e (10:44) shows a bit of the weird time sigs and ambience of last album but has down-tuned power chords that accompany electronic effects. longest track of album. doomy and staccato at times. has symphonic atmospheric embellishments. not bad

r (3:18) a down-tuned pirate song? hmmm. sounds like this could be a folk metal song by Ensiferum, Korpiklaani and the like but in a doomy instrumental context

i (3:13) let's get to the extreme metal already. loud raucous riffs interspersed with rip roaring solos that make this a thrashy rocker that also incorporates alternative metal riffs and short solos

F (6:39) nice time sig changin'-it-up riffs that breaks into soloing. It isn't anything out of the ordinary for the PIKES. ok but not outstanding
