SPECIAL COLLABORATOR PSIKE, JRF/Canterbury, P Metal, Eclectic
3 stars PIKE 175 - QUILTED is the 74th album released by BUCKETHEAD in 2015 and is once again an all instrumental affair exclusively played by BUCKETHEAD himself. QUILTED is also the title track of the one single track on this PIKE and it clocks in close to the half hour mark at 29:28.

After the frenetic punk laden caustic metal of 'Last House On Slunk Street,' QUILTED begins in a total opposite manner. This begins as ambient music with light electronic swirls and pastels of sound with a clean guitar slowly weaving around the electronics. Being almost a half hour track means this one has plenty of time to breath and unwind at a snail's pace.

There's not a lot to say about this one. It remains super slow and ambient and would be perfect music for a yoga class or a meditation retreat. This is ethereal music all the way that moves like light puffy clouds across the sky. There is absolutely no bass or percussion to be found and is only ambient electronic sounds accompanied by intermittent clean guitar that echoes and plays lightly and rarely registers as guitar playing at all.

This is actually pretty good for what it is although this is background music for meditative experiences and will bore the active listener to tears. In fact i'm multi-tasking right now as i'm listening to this but it is pleasant and worth 3 stars as an ambient album.
